    Air Fryer Baked Apples

Air Fryer Baked Apples couldn't be easier to make if they tried. Simply take a few apples, cut them in half and cut out the cores, then top them with a delicious brown sugar streusel mixture, and then bake!

They're scrumptious as is, but if you add a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it takes them into over the top delicious territory!

And because they're fruit, they're technically good for you - that's my understanding, anyway. 🙂

    Ingredient List

    • Apples - I like Honeycrisp for this recipe, but you can use any good eating apple.
    • Brown sugar - you could use white sugar, but I love the flavor that brown sugar adds.
    • Oats - either quick cooking or old fashioned oats will work here.
    • Butter - Use unsalted butter, and salt the streusel yourself.

    Tips and Tricks

    • When cutting the cores out of the apple, also slice a tiny bit off the outsides of the apples so that they lay flat. It's much easier to transport them in an out of the air fryer that way.
    • Test the apples for doneness by sliding a paring knife into them - if the knife goes in easily, your apples should be good. If not, give them 2-3 more minutes in the air fryer.

What kind of apples are good for baked apples?

Any type of "eating apple" will be good for this recipe. Because they don't cook for long enough for the apples to break down, you don't want a traditional "baking apple" like a Granny Smith - they wont be sweet enough.

    Why Use an Air Fryer?

I like using my air fryer because it heat up much faster than my oven, and it uses less electricity.

Are Baked Apples good for you?

They're not NOT good for you. The apples provide nutrients, and because you're not eating a ton of it, the topping isn't extremely unhealthy.

    Ingredients

    • 2 apples Honey Crisp preferred
    • 1 ½ tablespoon butter melted
    • ¼ cup flour
    • 2 tablespoon oats
    • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
    • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon

    Instructions

    • Preheat your air fryer to 350.
    • Cut apples in half, and remove the core and seeds with a knife or spoon. Cut a tiny sliver off of the outside of the apples so that they sit flat on the cutting surface.
    • In a small bowl mix melted butter, flour, oats, sugar and cinnamon. Top each of the apples with a ¼ of this mixture.
    • Air fry for 15 minutes. Check for doneness by sliding a sharp knife into the apple - if it goes in smoothly you're good. If there's resistance, let the apples cook another 2-3 minutes.
    • Remove cooked apples from the air fryer, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
